On 23rd February a conference was held in Hull by the Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber  called 'Let my people go' - discussing contemporary issues on slavery and justice.  Two of the keynote speakers were Archbishop Sentamu (Archbishop of York) and  Father Shay Cullen (Founder of the PREDA Foundation).

Hull was the birthplace of William Wilberforce and with 2007 being the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade, the conference, which was held at the KC Stadium Conference Centre, was full to capacity.

As leaders of UNITY, it was decided that Jill and Margaret took this opportunity to promote the CD 'His Light Will Shine' and also meet Father Shay Cullen from the PREDA Foundation.

Margaret said on her return that "much was accomplished during the conference and Jill and I really enjoyed being able to take part in the Exhibition and to promote the work of the 'Kids Behind Bars' Campaign run by Jubilee Action in partnership with the PREDA Foundation.  Many  CD's were sold and lots of Just Right magazines published by Jubilee Action were taken and helpful contacts made."

We also had the pleasure of meeting Danny Smith again (founder of Jubilee Action) who was accompanying Father Shay on his visit to Hull.

The CD continues to sell well with another £500 being raised in March 2007 for the vital work carried out by the PREDA Foundation to help release some of the thousands of desperate children in prison in the Philippines.

UNITY would like to thank everyone who has purchased a copy of the CD.  If you would like to purchase a copy please click here.
